Terms of Service
EFFECTIVE DATE: MAY 5, 2026⚠ Critical safety notice
Brief Aero is a pilot productivity tool, not a safety-critical avionics device. It is not FAA-certified, not a replacement for your aircraft's official Pilot Operating Handbook (POH), and not a replacement for proper pilot training, currency, or judgment.
Always cross-reference the App's content with your aircraft's official documentation. Pre-flight checklists, emergency procedures, currency calculations, and maintenance reminders provided by the App or its community library are reference material only. They have not been independently verified for any specific aircraft, operating condition, or regulatory environment. Use Brief Aero as a supplement to — not a substitute for — established procedures and your operating manual.
By installing or using Brief Aero (the "App"), you agree to these terms.
1. The App
Brief Aero is an iPhone application that helps pilots organize aircraft checklists, track logbook entries, and monitor maintenance and currency deadlines. It is published by Quentin Quaizac, an individual sole developer based in Salon-de-Provence, France.
2. Eligibility and acceptable use
You agree to:
- Use the App only in compliance with applicable laws and aviation regulations (including FAA regulations in the United States and equivalent authorities in other jurisdictions)
- Not rely on the App for safety-critical decisions during actual flight operations
- Maintain your own current and valid Pilot Operating Handbook (POH) for your aircraft and consult it as the authoritative source
- Verify currency calculations and renewal dates against your physical certificates and the FAA's official records
- Not abuse, reverse-engineer, or attempt to bypass the App's subscription gating or authentication
- Not submit illegal, defamatory, or copyrighted content to the public community library
3. No warranty for aviation use
Brief Aero is provided "as is" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no representation that:
- Checklist items match your specific aircraft, configuration, or modifications
- Emergency procedures included in the App or community library are correct, complete, or appropriate for your aircraft
- Currency calculations align with current FAA regulations or your specific certificate level
- Maintenance reminders cover all applicable Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, or required inspections
- The App will be free from defects, errors, or interruptions
You are solely responsible for verifying any information the App provides before using it for flight planning, training, or actual operations.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Quentin Quaizac and Brief Aero shall not be liable for:
- Any injury, damage, accident, incident, regulatory action, or financial loss arising from your use of the App
- Any reliance you place on checklist content, emergency procedures, currency calculations, or maintenance reminders
- Any data loss, sync failure, or service interruption
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the App is limited to the amount you paid for Brief Aero subscriptions in the 12 months preceding the claim.
5. Subscriptions and payments
Brief Aero offers optional Pro subscriptions through Apple's In-App Purchase system:
- Brief Aero Pro Monthly — $7.99 / month, auto-renewing
- Brief Aero Pro Annual — $59.99 / year, auto-renewing, includes 14-day free trial for new subscribers
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each period unless canceled at least 24 hours before renewal.
You can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade your subscription anytime in your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled directly by Apple per their refund policy.
Free trial: if you start the 14-day free trial on the annual plan and do not cancel before the trial ends, your card on file will be charged $59.99 for the first year. You can cancel anytime during the trial without charge.
6. Free tier limits
Without a Pro subscription, the App provides limited features:
- One aircraft
- Three checklists per aircraft
- Five clones from the community library
These limits are subject to change. Existing free users will be grandfathered in if limits become more restrictive.
7. Community library
Templates submitted to the community library become publicly readable by all Brief Aero users. By submitting:
- You grant Brief Aero and other users a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display and use your template within the App
- You confirm you have the right to share the content (i.e. it does not violate any copyright or proprietary rights)
- You accept that submitted content cannot be selectively deleted; we may remove templates we judge unsafe, illegal, or off-topic at our sole discretion
8. Intellectual property
The Brief Aero name, chevrons logo, app design, and source code are owned by Quentin Quaizac. You receive a limited, non-transferable license to use the App on Apple devices linked to your Apple ID for as long as your account remains in good standing.
9. Termination
You may stop using the App and cancel your subscription at any time via your iPhone Settings.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms (e.g. attempting to bypass IAP, submitting illegal content). In such cases, no refund will be issued for unused subscription time.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Brief Aero evolves. Material changes will be notified in-app. Continued use of the App after notification constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of France. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the App will be resolved in the courts of Aix-en-Provence, France, unless you are a consumer in another jurisdiction with mandatory local consumer protection laws that apply differently.
